Guests from Japan enjoy local restaurants

For a small town of less than 6000 people Kerikeri has 12 really excellent evening restaurants.  Serving a wide variety of culinary styles, in diverse and interesting locations there is something for everyone.

Yoshiro and Keiko visited us from Japan and really enjoyed a very different restaurant experience every night of their time here in the Bay of Islands.   One of those nights they met ‘George’ the maitre d’  at Ake Ake.  This restaurant is located just a few minutes from 88 Lodge in a beautiful Vineyard.   Now ‘George’ can be considered to be rather wooden in his approach.   Actually he is a shining example of stoic manners and good taste as he oversees the superb delights dished up by Chris and his team in the kitchen

If you are looking to visit Northland you will not find another location with the selection and quality of restaurants and café’s than Kerikeri.  It really is the gastronomic centre of the north, some say even in the world.

You can check out Ake Ake and some of our other wonderful evening restaurants here.

Additionally we have The Italians (authentic Italian food made just like Cesare's mumma used to make), Zeizo's (the latest addition to Kerikeri's gastro pallet) and The Pioneer (our local pub just 1 km from 88 Lodge).

During the day time hours there is a collection of equally diverse and quality cafe's.

All of these establisments are within a 10 minute drive radious of 88 Lodge.  Another reason why we claim to be so well located giving our guests access to everything in The Bay of Islands and all Northland.

It's not many who receive ‘HALL OF FAME’ status. This makes us a B&B not to be missed
