China visits the Bay of Islands

At 88 Lodge we have enjoyed the visits of guests from Hong Kong, Shanghai and even Beijing but until very recently we have not had any guests from the vast hinterland of China.

Taiyuan is a large city in the Shanxi Province approximately 4 hours (high speed motorway) driving from Beijing and it is from here that we welcomed two very friendly and pleasant young independent travellers.

Proudly sporting ‘Sweet As’ NZ tee shirts t hey were absolutely besotted with New Zealand and were kind enough to say 88 Lodge was the best way they could think of to end their holiday here.  They really enjoyed our space and quiet beauty, the gardens and the birds, the stars at night and our outgoing friendliness.  They even did us the compliment of saying our breakfast was the best they had had in New Zealand.

In turn they completely shattered our stereotypical view of Chinese tourists.  Enjoying the local food, restaurants, and local attractions.  Speaking English and travelling around independently we now know China as the emerging nation on the travel scene.  We are very much looking forward to welcoming more visitors from that fascinating country.

It's not many who receive ‘HALL OF FAME’ status. This makes us a B&B not to be missed
